Deeply Rooted

Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.  What a beautiful picture of a godly person. When storms of life come their way, they stand firm in the Lord. They overlook the cares of this world because they focus on God.

This morning I gave my yellow daylilies water and plant food. The daylilies are growing in two large washtubs by my back porch. These daylilies are beautiful and bloom most of the time from late spring until fall.  But, it got me thinking these daylily's roots can't get into the ground because they are in containers. They can't spread. They are not grounded and can't get their nourishment from the ground soil.

The soil in the washtub is not genuine and is like "fake soil." Unfortunately, there is a lot of fake soil globally calling for us to sink our roots into. But, the only "real soil" that can give us the nutrients we need to grow spiritually and produce the fruit we produce is God's Word. So, sink your roots into it each day by reading and meditating upon it.
